Every pendant, drop earring, and charm in the Elle Coastal line starts the same way: a walk along the shoreline in Vathy, Kalymnos, collecting what the sea has left behind. Coralline algae. Tiny seagrass fragments. And the collection’s signature find — the Kalymnian Eye, a small, perfectly round operculum (the little “trapdoor” shell some sea snails carry) that is captured by fishermen for a rare local dish on this stretch of Greek coastline and nowhere quite like it.
These found pieces are cleaned, arranged, and set in hand-poured, crystal-clear resin — sometimes with a scatter of gold flakes for warmth, sometimes left bare so the texture speaks for itself. Every pendant is cast and polished by hand, which means no two pieces catch the light exactly the same way. What you’re wearing isn’t a reproduction of the coast. It’s a small, permanent piece of it.
Why resin, and why Kalymnos?
Elle was born and has lived and worked on Kalymnos, and the island — its rocky coves, its sponge-diving heritage, its blue-and-gold light — shows up in almost everything she makes. Resin casting lets her preserve organic material (shells, algae, sea-worn textures) exactly as she finds it, rather than reshaping it into something else. The result sits somewhere between jewellery and a tiny specimen box: wearable, but also a little bit of a keepsake.
